RUMOURS that Bewdley’s public toilets could close have been flushed out after it was confirmed the facilities would remain open.
Wyre Forest District Council leader John Campion said the lavatories in Load Street car park would not be closed despite fears raised by families.
Angry residents had contacted The Shuttle following rumours around the town that the toilets, used by tourists throughout the summer months, were under threat of clo - sure but Mr Campion has now dispelled the claims.
“We are not proposing to close the public toilets in Load Street car park,” the Conservative councillor said.
Bewdley town councillor Derek Killingworth echoed Mr Campion, adding the main toilets “are not going anywhere”.
The Independent Community and Health Concern member said the town council had been assured by Mr Campion that the toilets would not close but the cubicle in Dog Lane car park would be shut.
