A MAN and a youth have been arrested after police responded to a report boats were being broken into at Stourport Marina.

Officers went to the scene just before 5am on Wednesday after the sound of breaking glass was heard coming from the marina.

Four unoccupied boats, which were moored there, were found to have been broken into and two of them damaged, although it has yet to be established if anything was stolen.

Suspects were seen running off and a dog handler was sent to the scene to help with a search of the area.

A 24-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth were arrested in the Wilden Lane area of Stourport about 90 minutes later and taken to Kidderminster Police Station for questioning on suspicion of burglary.

They were subsequently released on police bail with conditions including an 8pm to 7am curfew until March 17, pending further inquiries and the results of forensic tests. CCTV footage is being studied as part of the investigation.
