A COOKLEY dancer entertained theatre-goers in Kidderminster’s German twin town during the European tour of the show in which he was lead singer.

Jack Ludwig, 24, was part of the Gaelforce Dance show, which made a five-week tour of the continent and visited Husum’s NordseeCongressCentrum.

The show, from Dublin, was a love story about two couples and Mr Ludwig, who delivered The Shuttle as a youngster, was one of the dancers and the lead singer.

He said: “When we got the tour dates me and my dad, who is half German, were running through all the towns and we noticed Husum was on it. The town was really lovely – I had not been there before.

“It felt strange to be there, when you see the Kidderminster town sign ‘Twinned with Husum’ every day. It was weird to think I was in the twin town by coincidence.”

The former member of Wyre Forest Young Voices choir and Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Society’s youth section said he had been in contact with Kidderminster’s twinning association and wanted to return to Husum one day to meet its civic dignitaries and residents who have visited their English twin town.

He said his success in the show had stemmed from his appearance in the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, watched by billions worldwide.

He graduated last July from Brooks Academy of Irish Dance in London.

The former Wolverley Secondary School pupil has been taking part in dance movement classes since the age of four and started taking dancing seriously aged eight.

“It has all taken off since the Olympics,” said Jack.

“I graduated and I have a lot more freedom now and little things have popped up since then.

“My application is in process to be part of the ceremonies at Rio 2016.”

The tour finished last Sunday in Emsdetten, Germany.
