A CROSS of poppies has been planted by the Friends of Broadwaters Park to commemorate 100 years since the First World War.

The poppies will serve as a place in Broadwaters Park to remember the 1914-18 war and its many victims.

Broadwaters Park chairman Mike Abraham said: "It is important that we remember those who gave their lives for their country, and in this small way by planting poppies we can do that."
