ADVENTUROUS youngsters developed their own caving system at an education centre in Bewdley, which will be used to teach primary school children.
Kidderminster College Students, in their second year of a level three outdoor adventure course, got their hands dirty developing their own caving system at the Frank Chapman Centre.
The project, which took 14 weeks to complete, will be used as an educational activity for young children at the centre.
The students’ budget allowed for the use of a mini digger, and they had to take into account risk assessment, lesson plans, operational procedures and environmental impact.
They also visited an indoor caving system to plan the activities.
Emma Booton, course tutor, said: “The students fully embraced the project from the research, design, construction and finally the delivery of the session to the primary school children. I am very proud of all of them.”
Andy Dobson, college principal, congratulated the students, who became known as the Tunnel Rats, on their hard work.
