A CHARITY concert is being held in Areley Kings to raise funds for an animal shelter in Majorca.

The concert, being organised by Poppy Everton and Danielle Bufton, will take place at the Areley Kings Village Hall next Thursday at 7.30pm in aid of SOS Animal.

Eighteen-year-old Miss Everton, who volunteers at the charity's Stourport shop, said: "We have gathered some local acts such as one of the organisers Danielle Bufton, along with Miette Swift and Jess Bryant.

"We discovered some of these fabulous singers through organising open mic nights at Kidderminster Library.

"A local band called Unknown First will also be playing and Debbie Ashman and her partner will also be coming down from Edinburgh to perform a dance act."

Miss Everton began volunteering in the shop in June last year and said she has met some "brilliant" people and gained experience.

She added: "I have seen this charity achieve so much in the past 10 months that I feel if I can raise some money before I leave for university then I will."

Tickets are £3 and are available from the Lombard Street shop or on the door.
