A MOTHER and daughter are opening a new business together as they hope to bring life to a currently unused shop in Kidderminster.
Sue, 63, and Laura Smith, 33, are holding an open event this weekend to show off their new vintage shop and Reiki therapists in Blackwell Street.
The shop, opening under the name Bigyeds, officially opens next Monday.
Sue Smith said: “It’s a great space as it can accommodate both the shop and the Reiki.
“Laura always wanted to open a retro shop and I already did Reiki voluntarily at the women’s refuge in Wolverhampton, so it made sense to put the two together and bring our business here.”
The duo have taken on the task of redeveloping the former Books and Bargains store and Mrs Smith admitted that if they knew how bad a state the shop was in they might not have bothered.
“The shop was in a terrible state and it’s taken a lot of hard work since we started in April to get it ready for opening.
“The time has come around so quickly but we can’t wait to get up and running.”
The shop will be open between 11am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, where people will be able to view the items and services that will be on offer, including vintage clothing, bric-a-brac and restored furniture.
