BEWDLEY Carnival will be returning to the town on Saturday, June 7.

The event will feature a float parade, animals, sports activities and live music and dance, and has been organised by Bewdley Carnival Association Sue Matthews, publicity officer of the association, said: “'The annual carnival is an event not to be missed because it caters for all generations with entertainment on one afternoon.

“It is lovely to see everybody enjoying themselves as it is always such a happy atmosphere.

“The carnival is organised by the people of Bewdley for the people of Bewdley and we welcome any visitors that want to join in too.”

Crowds will be entertained by K9 Quackers’ sheepdog and duck herding display which is led by Crufts champion Richard Curtis.

The act stars the ‘stunt ducks’ and ‘ASBO ducks’ and Richard’s commentary is filled with humour and audience participation.

The carnival will start at 1pm at Hales Park with a parade led by the float of princesses Fearne Smith, Sofia Tench, Leah James and Amelia Perrin-Tilt.

The procession will continue along Cleobury Road and into Bewdley town centre, before taking the Stourport Road onto the carnival field at Bewdley Leisure Centre.

Live music and dance will be performed by Severnside School of Dancing, Bewdley Concert Band and Got2Sing, while West Midlands Tae Kwon Do and vintage car displays will provide further family entertainment.

Animal man Simon Airey, who is an expert in reptiles and exotic species such as snakes and frogs, will also be present.

There will be more than 40 stalls and refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Entrance to the field is £2 for adults, £1 for OAPs and children over 10 and free for children under 10.

The carnival will be preceded by Music in the Hall, a free evening of live music at St George’s Hall in Bewdley on Friday, June 6.

Doors open at 7pm with The Grumpy Old Guitarists performing from 7.30pm and a fireworks display at approximately 10pm.
