STAFF at a new charity shop in Kidderminster have asked residents to open their hearts and wardrobes to donate unwanted clothes, shoes and accessories.
The Salvation Army Trading Company (SATCoL) opened the new shop in the Swan Shopping Centre last week and the new campaign will run for six weeks. Staff are asking people to clear out their wardrobes and donate items they no longer wear or use to their local SATCoL charity shop, where they can be put to good use and contribute to helping those in need.
SATCoL area manager Jayne Sargeant said: “We’d like as many people as possible to participate in the campaign. The average UK household owns about £4,000 worth of clothes and about 30 per cent of it hasn’t been worn in the last year.
“We want to encourage people to think about what’s lurking in the back of their wardrobe that they might be able to donate. Each and every donation will help us raise money to support the valuable work of the Salvation Army.”
