A CHARITY ball has been organised by a Stourport daughter in memory of her mother, who died from cancer.

Charlotte Shaw, 20, has organised the event, which will take place at Stourport Manor Hotel on Friday, July 4 at 7.30pm, to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

Her mother Nicola Taylor died in 2010, aged 39, having battled non-Hodgkin lymphoma, the fifth most common cancer in the UK, with around 11,500 people diagnosed each year.

Charlotte, a care co-ordinator, said: “Cancer Research UK is a cause close to my heart.

“It helped provide me with really useful information and an explanation of what was going on when my mother was ill with cancer.

“I hope the funds we raise can provide similar help to others.”

Charlotte, who has previously held a fancy dress birthday party and a sponsored waxing event to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, has been supported by her cousins Josh Shaw, 22, and Sophie Vaughan, 19 in organising the charity ball.

The fundraising evening will include a buffet, music from a live DJ and dancing into the early hours and the dress code is smart and formal.

The event organisers aim to raise £2,000 for Cancer Research UK and tickets, costing £30 each, can be purchased by contacting Charlotte on 07511 744706 or shawcharlotte@live.co.uk.
