A RETIRED GP who spent most of his career serving the community of Wyre Forest has died aged 76.

Dr Jimmy Jethwa died peacefully, with his family around him, on Wednesday, June 18.

Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Dr Jethwa moved to the UK to train as a GP in Sheffield.

He worked in Wyre Forest between 1967 and 2003 and was a partner in the Northumberland House practice, in Stourport Road, appointed by Dr John Ball.

Dr Richard Herbert, a friend and colleague of Dr Jethwa, said: “He was greatly missed by many of his patients when he retired from Northumberland House.

“He was a dedicated GP with a special interest in obstetrics and gynaecology, delivering many babies at both the Croft and the Lucy Baldwin Maternity Hospitals.”

Dr Jethwa was medical officer at Kidderminster Harriers Football Club and trained members of St John Ambulance.

His funeral will be held at Wyre Forest Crematorium on Tuesday (July 1) at 10am.

His family have requested no flowers; donations can be made to Kidderminster Hospital’s League of Friends.
