BEWDLEY Museum has received a 2014 certificate of excellence award from the travel website Tripadvisor.

The visitor attraction is set in a historic butchers’ shambles. It was recognised for its positive feedback, including 37 “excellent” and 18 “very good” ratings from visitors.

One reviewer on Tripadvisor, Mary B of Stourport, wrote: “We had a lovely day out at the museum in the sunshine with fantastic history.”

Another user of the website, Bevmitch of Perth in Australia, commented: “We recently visited with our young family and were very surprised at how lovely it is. Our kids loved it all.”

The museum has a brass foundry, air raid shelter and adjoining gardens and features a range of displays which provide an insight into the trades and crafts of the Wyre Forest area.

It is owned and managed by Wyre Forest District Council.

Conservative councillor Anne Hingley, cabinet member for health, wellbeing and housing at the local authority, said: “We are very proud of what Bewdley Museum has accomplished and this award will add to the growing list of achievements.

“It is great to see tourists are posting feedback of their good experiences within the district at our attractions.”

Council leader, Conservative Marcus Hart, congratulated the museum on the accolade.
