PUPILS of a Kidderminster school were presented with a cheque for more than £500 from the town’s B&Q store.

Wolverley Sebright VA Primary School was donated the money after B&Q staff member, Jen Shaw, organised a sponsored walk in memory of her mother, Sheila Voice.

Mrs Voice was part of the crossing patrol at the primary school for more than 40 years and also volunteered in the school, listening to and helping children with their reading.

The money raised by the staff at B&Q will be added to the donations and money raised by parents of the school to go toward transforming an area of the school into a reading zone in Sheila’s name.

Shelley Reeves-Walters, headteacher, said: “We are delighted and very honoured that B&Q and our wonderful parents have supported such a worthwhile event in the memory of an amazing lady, who gave so much to the pupils of our school.

“The children have been instrumental in designing and selecting reading materials, which will bring joy to everyone.”

At the cheque presentation Ross Stevenson, store manager, also presented pupils Jasmin Connolly and Ellie Waters with items to take back to school for the gardening club and ECO Warriors.
