A KIDDERMINSTER lorry driver will be jumping out his cab and lacing up his running shoes for charity.

Father-of-two Keith Kane, 53, is looking forward to taking part in the Nottingham Marathon to help raise money for the Midlands Air Ambulance.

This will be Keith’s tenth marathon and he is looking to beat his personal best time of three hours and 18 minutes that he achieved at the London Marathon in April.

In his previous nine marathons, Keith has raised a total of £7054.20 for a number of different causes.

Keith said: “I’ve always been quite active but I started running marathons in 2007. The training is going really well and it just follows on from the previous marathon I have completed.

“I was delighted to achieve my personal best in April and I always look to finish below three hours 30 minutes. My aim is to beat three hours 15 minutes.

“For each marathon I do, I support a different charity. I feel that other people should benefit from my running.

“I have chosen the Midlands Air Ambulance this time as it is a local charity that helps save so many lives. They receive no funding and rely on donations so it is a worthy cause.

“I receive a lot of support from my family and friends as well as backing from the people I meet regularly through my job and I am grateful for that.”

His daughter Amy Brooks, aged 28, added: “We are very proud of him and he is a real inspiration and role model.

“He puts a lot of effort into his training and in raising money for charity at each event. He is approaching a new chapter in his life when he becomes a grandparent in January but we know he won’t be hanging up his running shoes.”
