Visitors to a popular annual fair in Hartlebury are set to enjoy a bigger and better event this year.

The Autumn Harvest Fair will take place at Worcestershire County Museum, at Hartlebury Castle, on October 5 between 11am and 5pm.

Attractions this year include cider-making demonstrations with traditional equipment outside the Museum’s 300-year-old cider mill.

There will also be demonstrations of heavy horses, donkey rides around the Castle’s Carriage Circle and the chance to have a go at traditional games including ferret roulette.

Activities for children will include practising archery skills, trying their hand at traditional instruments and apple tasting.

Visitors will also be entertained by a program of traditional dance performances by the English Folk Dancing Society, the Worcestershire Players and Cast Off Appalachian Dancers, as well as music performances including hand-bell ringing and ukuleles.

Pippa Ashmore, Museum Events Officer, said: “Harvest Fair day is always a fun, family day which gives visitors the chance to see cider being made in the traditional way as well as observe traditional skills and crafts.

"We are hoping visitors will get involved by bringing some apples to be added to the hopper and in return they can bring along a small bottle and take away some of the freshly squeezed juice.

“There's also so many other things happening during the event including children's activities, entertainment and heavy horse demonstrations that it really is a full day out and great fun for all the family"

Admission to the event costs £5 for adults, £2.50 for children/concessions and £13 for a family ticket (two adults and two children).
