A TRADITIONAL African dance troupe will be performing in Stourport as part of their eleventh UK tour.

The Osiligi Maasai Warriors have performed at churches and cathedrals all over the country and will stop of at St Michael’s and All Angels on Saturday, October 4.

The tours help the members of the troupe raise money for their families and their community which is situated 30 miles south of Nairobi.

Over the years, money raised from the tours has seen the lives of the troupe and their families improve, including the creation of two fresh, clean water points in their community.

Subsequent tour money has helped see the introduction of solar lights replacing unhealthy kerosene lighting, the building of a new church, as well as a new school which caters for 130 pupils.

The troupe’s performance, which includes audience participation for people of all ages, tells the story of their lives and is fully narrated.

Jo Dillestone, ticket organiser, said: “It should be a really fantastic show and it is great that the troupe is coming to perform for us.

“It will be nice to see something a bit different at the church.”

Tickets for the performance, which starts at 3pm, cost £5 for adults and £3 for children, and are available by calling Jo Dillestone on 01299 877778 or Mark Hall on 07926 169030.
