PUPILS from a Kidderminster school cleared litter from a park next to their school as part of the national The Big Tidy Up campaign.
The initiative, promoted by Wyre Forest District Council’s environmental protection team, saw the reception and year four classes from Franche Community Primary School join the Wombles to pick up litter discarded across the White Wickets playing fields and park.
They collected several bin bags of rubbish during the hour-long litter pick.
It was a project close to the heart of the school, which has it’s own Eco-Club for pupils and teaches all years about the vital role they can play in protecting the environment.
Val Weddell-Hall, head teacher, said: “This type of activity shows that every small act can have a big consequence. Each child only needed to pick up one small piece of litter for them to make a big difference together.”
