A KIDDERMINSTER Scout group is running week-long activities as part of its search for new leaders.

The 9th Kidderminster Scout Group is participating in the national Search for a Leader Week, taking place from November 10 to 16, and a key part of the week will be to give talks and presentations to staff at some of the town’s biggest employers.

It hopes to find new people, particularly from the 18 to 40 age group, to help its 100 young members.

Andrew Rawlinson, group Scout leader, is looking for local companies to allow a leader to come into their workplace and spend time explaining the benefits of volunteering in the group.

Mr Rawlinson said: “Being the largest Scout group in Kidderminster means that we rely heavily on the local community to help run our weekly program of activities.

“Finding volunteers is never easy as we all live busy lives and finding time is always difficult, so having some of our local businesses support our search for a leader would be good news for the group.”

He will be writing to major employers in the town over the coming weeks, leading up to the Search for a Leader week in November, asking them to either welcome a representative from the group into their workplace or to display a volunteering poster in their staff canteens.
