A MAN smashed the glass in a door after an argument in a Kidderminster flat, a court heard.

Luke Homer was caught on CCTV causing £361.62 worth of damage to the door owned by Wyre Forest District Council as he tried to vent his frustration following an argument with a friend of his brother, Peter Love, prosecuting, said.

"Mr Homer was seen on CCTV to be punching and smashing the glass. A complaint was made. Mr Homer was recognised from the CCTV footage," he said.

"In a formal interview, he [Homer] said he had had an argument with a friend and went outside to clam down when he did the damage."

The incident came about as Homer was trying to console his brother as their uncle had died that day. A third party stepped in and it was said to have got heated.

Following the damage done on September 29, the 23-year-old was said to go to the Worcestershire council hub and apologise, agreeing a payment plan to pay for the damage he had caused.

In mitigation, John Rogers said he defendants emotions were running high at the time of the argument.

Homer pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to the glass panelled door when he appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, November 13.

Chairman of the magistrates, John Chester, made a compensation order to repay the council rather than the agreed payment plan and did not impose any courts costs or a victim surcharge.
