ST John’s Church in Wolverley is holding a ‘Scrumptious Soup Lunch’ in their church hall to support disabled children in Lima Peru.

The event on Friday November 21, is a follow-up to a similar event in 2012 which raised several hundred pounds.

Soup, with bread and butter, followed by coffee and cake will be served from 12 noon until 2pm for the price of £5.

There will be a choice of at least eight soups including carrot and coconut, leek and potato, broccoli and Stilton, spiced tomato and sweet red pepper, and spinach and watercress.

There will also be a raffle, and an opportunity to buy Qosunchis photo cards.

Money raised will go to the Shalom Centre for disabled children in the Pamplona Alta shanty town of Lima Peru. It will help pay for speech and language, occupational and physiotherapists, and also provide some extra treats for Christmas.

Event organiser, Jill Gramann, has visited the centre twice and knows how valuable the money sent out from Wolverley is to the running of this project.

Mrs Gramann, said: “Shalom supports some of the most disadvantaged children in Lima, and it is wonderful for their mothers to know that a community half-way round the world cares sufficiently to provide practical assistance through something as un universal as a bowl of soup.”
