A CHRISTMAS tree will be put up outside Bewdley church in time for the switching on of the town’s lights.
Members of the Bewdley Rotary Club will erect the tree outside St Anne’s Church this Saturday (November 22), ready for it to be lit up during the Bewdley Christmas Lights Festival on Saturday November 29.
The tree is a traditional part of the towns Christmas celebrations and the rotary club has been donating and erecting the tree outside the church for more than 10 years.
Bob Hill, president of the Rotary Club, said: “We supply the tree and pay for it every year. We have been doing it for many years.
“I’ve been a member since 2005 and we were putting the tree up long before that.
“We put the tree up before the festival and then take it down again in the New Year.
“We enjoy stopping the traffic for a few hours.”
He added that the Rotary Club would have its usual hog roast stall during the Lights Festival on November 29.
