A SCHEME which rewards organisations that improve the health and wellbeing of its staff has recognised Wyre Forest District Council.
The district authority has been awarded level 2 of the Worcestershire Works Well accreditation scheme, the first local authority to achieve the award.
The council received the award in recognition of its work promoting good health, including attendance management, health and safety, smoking and tobacco control and physical activity.
District councillor Anne Hingley, cabinet member for health, wellbeing and housing, said: “We were delighted to be the first local authority to achieve this level 2 of Worcestershire Works Well.
“As well as helping us to improve the health and wellbeing of our staff, the scheme helps us in our aims to reduce staff sickness and associated costs.”
The Worcestershire Works Well steering group said: “This was an excellent example of a local authority environment where, through Worcestershire Works Well, they are demonstrating the support measures that are in place for staff and the ways in which they actively encourage staff to have a healthy lifestyle.”
