A DRUNK man who shouted abuse at police officers in Kidderminster is told to "grow up" in court.

Eton Sztybel was outside Bed City, in Green Street, in the early hours of January 17 when he began swearing at police officers who were just patrolling the area, prosecutor Mark Soper said.

"Officers went to speak to him [Sztybel] and he was outside Bed City at that point and he was around with a woman," he said. " It was obvious to the officers he had been drinking and he refused to provide any details."

The 22-year-old was arrested for being drunk and disorderly and was described as continuing to give abuse to the officers until he was put in a cell.

Sztybel, of Dorsett Road, Stourport-on-Severn, who represented himself in court, refused to say anything regarding his actions that night.

He pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly when he appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, February 19.

Chairman of the magistrates, Roger Green, ordered he pay a £100 fine, as well as £85 in court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

He said: "I recommend that the next time you're drinking, that you stay in a house or somewhere until you become sober enough to control yourself.

"In other words, grow up."
