CELEBRATING 30 years of giving children a great start in Kidderminster is the Hokey Cokey nursery at The Railway Children Childcare Centre.

On Saturday (March 7), the centre will be throwing open its doors to welcome back some of its alumni from when it opened in February 1985 at Aggborough Community Centre, to when it moved to its current home at Station Approach in 1995, to the present 38 children a day it currently looks after.

Manager Ann Whitby said the nursery had grown and changed so much over the last three decades.

She said: "Over the past 30 years, we have seen many changes. We have gone from just opening three mornings a week, to opening Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 6pm, from four part-time members of staff to 16 staff, from 13 children on role to over 80.

"Two of the original members of staff, Hazel Cox and myself, are still at Hokey Cokey. We have children attending whose parents once came to Hokey Cokey."

At the birthday party there will be 80s music, with an optional 80s themed fancy dress, a quiz, face painting, games, and cake.

People are asked to bring in any memorabilia or photos from their time at the Kidderminster nursery.

The part will take place from 10am until 1pm on Saturday, March 7. For more details, call Ann Whitby on 01562 740182.
