A KIDDERMINSTER Midlands Air Ambulance volunteer has raised a milestone £100,000 through selling on top auction site eBay.

Lynne Beckett was announced as eBay for Charity's top individual charity seller having fundraised the massive amount of money by selling more than 35,000 items for the life-saving charity over the past five years.

The eBay for Charity team invited Lynne to the company’s head office in London, where she was presented with her award and given a guided tour of the offices.

On receiving the accolade, the volunteer said: "I have been overwhelmed by the praise from eBay for Charity and really enjoyed my experience in London. I’ve accepted the award on behalf of everyone who has donated or purchased items from my eBay site, as without them I wouldn’t have achieved the £100,000 total for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. I’d also like to thank my husband and parents for their assistance, as together we’ve packaged and distributed over 35,000 items, and it’s been a real team effort."

Ms Beckett said she decided to become a volunteer fundraiser for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity after previously treating patients who had to be airlifted for treatment while working as a theatre nurse at Kidderminster and Redditch hospitals.

"I know all too well the invaluable work undertaken by the flight paramedics and doctors," she added.

Hanna Sebright, chief executive for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: "Lynne’s commitment is second to none, and we are proud and privileged to have her support. Not only does she fundraise in her own time, but her efforts have helped to fund dozens of invaluable life saving air ambulance missions, so on behalf of the charity, our patients and their families, I would like to thank Lynne for all she has done and congratulate her on her well deserved award."

Julia Hutton-Potts, communications director for eBay, added: "We are thrilled to celebrate Lynne’s fantastic achievement. Her endless passion for fundraising is at the heart of eBay for Charity. Lynne is a true inspiration and we look forward to celebrating her next fundraising milestone together."
