A NEWLY modernised main branch of the Post Office will open in Stourport in Midcounties Co-operative.

The service, which will launch at 1pm on Monday, April 20, will be provided from six counter positions, including three new style open-plan counters, two secure fortress positions and a combi-counter, where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the retail till.

The branch itself will open from 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, with selected Post Office products and services available from the retail counter during shop opening hours, which are 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

Local residents and small business customers will be able to access a wide range of Post Office and mails services, including international parcels, Special Delivery, Local Collect and home shopping returns, make cash withdrawals from a Post Office Card Account, send funds abroad using Moneygram, pay bills, buy holiday money, get insurance, mortgages and savings and top up mobile phones.

Stourport Post Office will close at 12.30pm on Saturday, April 18, for the refurbishment to take place. During the short period of closure, Post Office services may be accessed from nearby branches, including Areley Kings and Kidderminster Post Office.

Alan Ridoutt, area manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.

“The investment marks a commitment to our no more branch closure programme.”
