IT was a busy weekend for Wyre Forest's Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews with all three district stations out on jobs.

At 8pm on Friday evening (April 17) crews from Bewdley and Stourport were called to a fire at Hartlebury Common.

A fire of grass, trees and gorse was extinguished.

On Saturday afternoon (April 18), a crew from Kidderminster were called to a fire in Oxford Street.

Crews were called to deal with a wheelie bin which was well alight in an alleyway just before 2pm.

Firefighters extinguished the fire using one hose reel and a thermal imaging camera.

At 5.51pm, crews from Kidderminster and Bewdley extinguished two separate large grass fires at Kingsford Country Park, near Wolverley.

A spokesman from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Two appliances from Kidderminster and a Land Rover from Bewdley, attended two separate grass fires.

"The incident involved two separate grass fires which were located a considerable distance from the roadway. The crews used water backpacks, a leaf blower, beaters and a hose reel to extinguish the fires."

A crew from Stourport were called at 7.09pm to an incident at Devil's Spittleful which involved undergrowth and earth that was well alight.

A spokesman from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Off road firefighting vehicles, a Land Rover and Argocat from Malvern, were called for access as well as the Droitwich USAR team to cut down the tree involved in the fire.

"A large tree burning from the inside was cut down by the USAR team.

"The crews used back pack extinguishers and beaters to extinguish the fire. One casualty was treated for smoke inhalation with oxygen therapy by the crew."

On Sunday, April 19, a Kidderminster crew was called to a small fire involving rubbish on White Wickets Park, in Franche Road at around 4.34pm.

At 9.54pm on Sunday an appliance from Bewdley attended a crash at the Duke William, in Rock and made one vehicle safe.
