A MAN who is getting married in June can no longer drive at his wedding after being caught drink-driving.

Vishal Rattu was due to drive a wedding vehicle at his big day next month but after being caught by police on May 7 in Cookley with 76 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath, he has been banned from the roads.

Mark Soper, prosecuting, said the 28-year-old was driving his Honda Civic in Castle Road when he was caught driving over the legal limit of 35mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

Rattu, of Dudley Walk, Wolverhampton, pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence of alcohol when he appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, May 21.

He was disqualified from driving for 17 months, with the option to reduce that band by 25 per cent if he successfully completed the drink-drive rehabilitation course. He was also ordered to pay a £300 fine, £85 in prosecution costs, a £30 victim surcharge, and £150 in court charges.
