A FRUSTRATED ADHD sufferer smashed through the communal door of his flat twice before being evicted, a court heard.

Leon Cook had lost the keys to his Park Lane Stonham Housing Association flat and after days of unsuccessful phone calls to get duplicate keys, he got frustrated and on April 12 he broke the door to get in, said prosecutor Mark Soper.

"He damaged the door in order to gain entry to his flat. There was CCTV and he was seen kicking the door repeatedly," Mr Soper said.

The damaged, which was estimated at around £500, was repaired a few days later.

But after gaining entry to get a change of clothes on April 12, he again had to go through more unsuccessful phone calls to try to get replacement keys.

On April 17, the 19-year-old returned to the flat and again damaged the door to get back in, this time causing £1,300 worth of damage which got him evicted.

In mitigation, Ruth Edwards said Cook, who suffers from severe ADHD and is on the autistic spectrum, had there been someone on site to help him, like here was supposed to be in the flats as it was assisted living, then the incidents may have been avoided.

"This is not a gentleman that did it out of devilment - he was just trying to get into his own property, " she said.

"He wasn't damaging it just because he felt like it - there was a reason."

Cook, of Edinburgh Close, Kidderminster, pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage when he appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, May 21.

He was sentenced to a compensation order of £500 and ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £150 court charge.
