THE organisation set up by the parents of Josh Jones who died in a tragic accident last year, is holding a special family event in July to celebrate his birthday.

Josh’s Prayers, which was created in memory of Josh, the 18-year-old trainee mechanic who was killed when a car fell on top of him in May last year, is putting the finishing touches to a day of family fun and live music in Stourport on Saturday, July 18.

‘Josh’s Fun Day’ will take place from 12pm to 9pm, in Severn Meadows, in Stourport.

The event will take place on what would have Josh’s birthday and will raise funds for Josh’s Prayers’ work with other bereaved families locally.

Kenny Cummins, chairman of the charity, said: “We are having a family fun day to raise awareness of the charity and also to try and bring the community together the way it was in the past.

“We have a fantastic line-up of entertainment for the whole family on the day including puppet shows, magicians, face painting, circus acts and assault courses, to name a few.

“For the children, we will also have guest appearances from Mario, Luigi, Olaf and Spiderman.”

The evening of the event will also include performances from live bands including My Secret Captain, Identity Crisis and the Stiff Joints.

Stephanie Jones, Josh’s mother, said: “The event is a family fun day, a celebration of Josh’s legacy and also to try to show people why Josh’s Prayers was set up.

“The charity was set up to help families pay the disbursement fee, which is a fee a family have to find before they can bury their loved one and they can be released for burial.

“This can range from £1,000 to £1,500. Nobody knows about this fee and that is what we try to help with.”

The group provides grants to people in order to lessen the burden of burial or cremation arrangements at a difficult time.

Mr Cummins added: “This is hopefully going to be an annual event to celebrate Josh’s legacy and help bring our community back together.

“We really hope people bring their families down to what will be a fantastic event.”
