A MONTHLY local music showcase is going from strength to strength after launching earlier this year.

Live Local, organised by Kevin Wrench, takes place at Stourport Civic Centre and features singers and bands across around the local area.

Following on from the success over the past five months, since its launch in January, organisers are planning an all day charity day in August.

Mr Wrench said: “I have been extremely pleased with how the Live Local event has been received by the local people and I hope it continues to grow and develop and continue to give local performers a taste of playing in a good sized venue, to hopefully in front of a continually growing audience.

“We are planning an all-day charity Live Local to take place on Saturday, August 29, which will feature lots of musical acts as well as a street artist and various other performers and attractions.”

June’s Live Local will take place on Saturday, June 27, followed by July’s event on Saturday, July 4.

Mr Wrench added: “We have three exceptional acts in June, starting the evening we have a four piece outfit, Plastic Scene, who played at Hopfest this year.

“Second we have the dynamic and soulful Sally Haines who is a fantastic live performer with incredible stage presence.

“Finally, we have Underground Ocean who are a four piece rock band who formed in early 2014.”

July’s event will see the Humdrum Express, One Tree Canyon and Meme Detroit take to the Stourport stage.

Tickets for both events at the Stourport Civic are £6 and doors open at 8pm, with music starting at 8.30pm.
