A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after being hit by a car in Kidderminster this morning (Wednesday).

Believed to be in her 70s, the woman suffered a head injury and broken legs after colliding with a car in Worcester Road just before 11am.

West Midlands Ambulance Service and sent an ambulance, a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic area support officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Staffordshire to the scene.

An ambulance spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a woman lying unconscious in the road and a car that had suffered damage to the windscreen.

“The woman, believed to be in her 70s, was treated for a significant head injury and fractures to both of her legs. She was immobilised with the use of a neck collar and spinal board.

“She was then airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and was still unconscious on arrival. Unfortunately, her condition is thought to be extremely serious.

“The driver of the car, a man, was uninjured in the incident."

The road was closed southbound, from near the Sealine factory while police and the ambulance service dealt with the incident.
