A MAN with a record for being drunk and disorderly added another to his list of convictions at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court.

Alexander Rickson was found "slumped" against a van in Imperial Avenue by police after reports were received at around 12.5am on July 18.

Adrian Jones, prosecuting, said: "Officers were called to attend due to reports of a male in the street under the influence acting suspiciously.

"They arrived and saw a male slumped over a Corsa van.

"They checked the vehicle for damage. They asked him [Rickson] for his address. He told them he was NFA, no fixed abode, so they could not take him home because he didn't have one. The police were trying to take him home to an address, but he was shouting at them and swearing and carried on his way and was subsequently arrested at 12.55am."

In mitigation, the 24-year-old, who was representing himself, said he had a drinking problem.

Rickson, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly when he appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, August 6.

Chairman of the magistrates Maurice Lashford fined Rickson for the offence but warned him of future behaviour.

He said: "This idea of drinking and being drunk in a public place is beginning to be a problem. However, we're going to fine you for this matter today. and the costs are going to be considerable."

Although the fine was just £37, with a court charge of £150, prosecution costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20, Rickson left the court owing £292 in total.
