THE Kidderminster Harriers Independent Trust is again joining forces with the Harriers Football Club to support the town’s Foodbank.

Following the success of the initiative last Christmas, the club and trust are again appealing to residents and supporters for donations to the Kidderminster Foodbank.

The Kidderminster Foodbank support those who have been identified by Care Professionals as ‘in crisis’ and are issued with a Foodbank voucher which can be exchanged for three days’ supply of emergency food.

At Harriers’ home fixture against Cheltenham Town on Boxing Day (December 26), KHIST are arranging collection points at the turnstiles to receive donations for the Foodbank, such as UHT milk, fruit juices and canned foods.

Geoff Coles, chairman of KHIST and board member at the Harriers, said: “We will be accepting donations at the Cheltenham fixture on Boxing Day and hope to secure donations from both home and away supporters and also all playing and non-playing staff at the club.

“There have been a considerable number of changes at the club in the last seven or eight months.

“The club wishes to become an integral part of the local community and we see this joint venture with as vital in an effort to support those less fortunate than ourselves during the festive period, where for some, life can be especially tough.

“When we ran the initiative last year it made a massive difference to those locally who are less fortunate. The feedback we received afterwards was very positive.

“By supporting the local foodbank over the festive period we hope to get closer to the local community.”
