COUNCILLORS in Wyre Forest have helped support more than 100 local good causes so far this year through the Community Leadership Fund.

Wyre Forest councillors have given away around £30,000 in small grants to community groups and local charities.

The scheme, which has been running for more than eight years, gives all 33 district councillors a budget of £1,000 to support local causes.

Councillor Sally Chambers, Wyre Forest District Council cabinet member for health, well-being and housing, said: “This fund has been a great success over the last few years with hundreds of good causes benefitting.

“Grants have been made to schools, scout groups, village halls, Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Dial-A-Ride to name but a few, helping people of all ages and from all walks of life.

“Projects or activities that improve the quality of life for residents or enhance the local environment will usually be supported. I’d encourage any organisation or project to take a look at the Council’s website to find out more.”
