THERE were red cocktails, heart shaped biscuits and crimson cowboy hats at a Stourport care home to raise awareness of the work of the British Heart Foundation.

Ravenhurst Residential Care Home, in Lickhill Road North, was a sea of red on Friday (February 5) for Wear It Beat It, the British Heart Foundation’s national fundraising and awareness campaign, which encourages people to wear red and have fun with themed events and activities.

The residents enjoyed red cocktails, decorated heart shaped biscuits and dressed in themed attire including red hats and feather boas.

Carla Siwicki, activities leader, said: “Every year our residents like to mark Wear It Beat It to raise awareness of this important charity and we always have great fun in the process.

“They loved decorating the biscuits and thought the cocktails were amazing – and we raided our wardrobes to make sure we were dressed for the occasion.”

Ninety-six-year-old resident, Christine Newton, added: “I really enjoyed decorating the biscuits and we have never had a cocktail hour before – it was nice to raise awareness of the British Heart Foundation.”

Wear It Beat It is held every year to raise funds and awareness of the British Heart Foundation, paying for life saving research into heart and coronary disease, which kills 400 people in the UK every single day.
