A KIDDERMINSTER man died after a fall at his home, an inquest heard.

Walter Simmonds sustained injury in an unwitnessed fall at his home in Birchfield Road.

The 94-year-old was admitted into the Worcestershire Royal Hospital for surgery, following which his condition declined and he died on January 21.

An inquest held by Worcestershire Coroner’s Service, which opened on February 1, and closed on Monday, May 23, ruled he died as the result of an accident.

The precise medical cause of death, confirmed at the inquest, is listed as acute cardiac failure, coronary atherosclerosis and fractured neck of left femur.
