A KIND Kidderminster school girl has had her beloved long hair cut short to help a youngster who has lost theirs through cancer.

Caitlyn Wall, of College Walk, had 12 inches of her long locks chopped off at ‘Only One’ Hairdressing Salon in New Road, Kidderminster, to donate to The Little Princess Trust.

The 14-year-old King Charles I School pupil has also helped raise more than £420 so far thanks to donations and support from family and friends as well as staff and customers at the salon.

The cash she has raised will also be donated to the charity to help cover the cost of turning the hair into a wig to give to a child who has lost theirs through cancer treatment.

Caitlyn said “I wanted to donate my hair because fighting cancer can be tough enough without drawing attention to yourself by not having any hair.

“So by donating my hair and raising £350, which is the cost of a wig, I can have a wig made to help a child facing this horrible disease.”

Hairdresser Kay Humphries, who cut Caitlyn’s hair, said: “I’ve never done this before and it did feel a little strange.

“But I think she is such a brave girl for doing this and such a selfless thing to do to help others.”

People can still donate through Caitlyn’s Justgiving page at www.justgiving.com/caitlyn-wall1
