AN inquest has opened into the death of a Blakedown great-grandmother who died after a crash in Kidderminster.

Naomi Gladys Twaite, 83, of Churchill Lane, died after she was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Birmingham Road, the A456, near to Hodge Hill, at around 3.30pm on Saturday, June 11.

She suffered serious injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene after her car, an orange Renault Clio, was involved in a crash with a black Mazda.

The Worcestershire Coroner’s Service opened an inquest into the cause of her death on June 16.

It was adjourned for a final hearing on October 31. The medical cause of death will be confirmed at the inquest.

Her heartbroken relatives paid tribute to the “amazing” mother and grandmother.

A statement from the family said: “Naomi, who was known to family and friends as Pip, was an amazing mother and grandmother of two and a great grandmother.

"She always thought of others and took great pleasure in organising the transport for the Kidderminster branch of the Worcestershire Blind Association.

"She was also a keen member of the Blakedown W.I and local Art group."

West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses – or anyone who saw the two cars before the crash – to call officers on 101, quoting incident reference number 503S of June 11.
