SEVERN Valley Railway has launched new family fun days ready for the summer holidays.

As well as an intensive service of heritage steam trains, the Railway has launched its Engine House Fun Days, running every Wednesday during the summer holidays.

The family-friendly, themed days run between 11.30am and 4pm. Some of the events include Cakes and Craft on August 3, Pirates and Princesses on August 10 and Peter’s Railway Day on August 17.

Throughout the holidays, children can also pick up one of the SVR’s ‘I Spy’ quiz sheets and enter a colouring competition, or take on the challenge to spot the mouse hidden in the paintings within the latest exhibition at the Engine House Visitor Centre – focussing on the work of the renowned railway artist Terence Cuneo.

This summer, the SVR is also launching its first family ticket offer – the Family Summer Saver enables families to enjoy a whole day out on the Railway for £39, a 25 per cent saving on the usual price.

Severn Valley’s summer events will be rounded-off with a visit from Paddington Bear on Sunday, September 11.

Marketing and communications manager, Clare Gibbard, said: “Summer 2016 will be a truly exciting one for the SVR – it is the first time that we have launched a family ticket offer like this and we hope that families come to take advantage of this chance to enjoy a great value day out.

“There is so much going on, from exhibitions to events as well as our new Family Fun Days, and, of course, our heritage steam trains will be running daily, taking visitors for exciting trips along the line.”
