IN an unusual twist Severn Valley Railway will be helping celebrate the very best of road steam transport this weekend.

The SVR's inaugural Steam on the Roads event will take place on Saturday, August 13, and Sunday, August 14.

From steamrollers to traction engines and steam wagons to, of course, steam trains, event visitors can take a trip back to the 'glory years' of steam-powered transport.

The Kidderminster station event will host up to eight full-size traction engines as well as four miniatures which will, on the Saturday, be seen on a road-run through Kidderminster town centre up the hill to Kidderminster station.

Real enthusiasts can indulge their traction passion at the traction engine 'play pen' on Kidderminster station car park, before enjoying brake van rides on engine no.1450.
