STAFF at a Kidderminster store are aiming to raise money for a colleague’s friend who was diagnosed with cancer.

Marie Jones, of Wollaston, Stourbridge, inspired her team at Specsavers in Swan Centre to support her friend, Lindy Humphrey, in her campaign to raise money for cancer.

Ms Humphrey was diagnosed with cancer and donated the hair she lost during treatment, and is now trying to fundraise to help provide more wigs, which cost around £350 each.

A beach-themed event at the store on Friday, August 19, will see money raised go to the Little Princess Trust, who supply real hair wigs to children suffering from cancer.

Store director Timothy Reeves said: "Everyone’s looking forward to what should be a really fun day.

"It is part of a bigger beach-themed event the Swan Centre is organising so we were keen to get involved and thought it would be an opportunity to raise some money at the same time.

"Please come down and join in the fun if you can."

The Little Princess Trust works with specialist suppliers and experienced hairdressers who offer wigs tailored to the individual child’s needs to provide wigs for youngsters with cancer.

To support the effort, staff at the Kidderminster branch will be handing out goody bags and balloons as well as donning their finest beach-gear and decorating the front of the store.

Customers will be able to buy a selection of homemade cakes and younger customers will be able to have a go at a sandpit game in return for a 50p donation.
