HUNDREDS of students across Wyre Forest have been celebrating after finding out their A-level results this morning (August 18).

Holy Trinity School's headteacher said the school was delighted with the good set of results this year.

The school achieved a pass rate of 95 per cent of A* to E grades. All year 13 students at the Birmingham Road school achieved gained University places or chosen work places.

Top performers included head student Grace Roberts, Bethany Whiston, Hannah Powis and Georgie Sloane.

Dr Melanie Hinton, head of sixth form, said: "It is all down to the hard work, dedication and support shown by our staff and our small teaching groups that has enabled our students to achieve such a pleasing set of A-level results."

Headteacher, Pamela Leek-Wright, added: "Our students have again delivered a good set of results and we are all delighted for their personal success and congratulate them all."

While, at Wolverley CE Secondary School, 65 per cent of students gained three or more A* to E grades, while 97 per cent achieved two more A* to E A-levels.

Headteacher, Bryn Thomas, said that they were "delighted" with their results this year.

He said: "This is a significant improvement on the previous year's results and reflects the hard work and dedication of students and staff.

"The average point score per student and per entry are much improved on last year which is indicative of the progress we are making here at Wolverley CE Secondary School.

"All students that have applied to University have achieved sufficient grades to secure their place and we wish them every success in their next steps in education.

"We are delighted that such positive results follow our recent 'Good' Ofsted inspection."

Students at Stourport High School and VI Form College were celebrating after the vast majority of students achieved grades at or above expectation.

Almost all students at the Minster Road school wishing to go to university secured their first choice places at a variety of universities.

Data so far shows that the school achieved an average points score per entry of 218 with 100 per cent of students gaining A* to E or equivalent grades.

Point scores for students are significantly up on last year. Those students following vocational courses achieved particularly well with 65 per cent of all entries securing distinction and distinction* grades.

Chris King, principal, said: “I am extremely proud that our students have secured some amazing results to enable them to move on to the next phase in their lives, either at university or in employment.

“I wish all leavers a successful future and look forward to celebrating with them at our Outstanding Achievements Awards Evening in September.”

Top performing students included Niall Allen, Sam Bird, Indy Bourne, Jess Cartwight, Ben Cross, Pip Harper, Kiera Harrison, Katie Hodgetts, Emily Jabczynski, Emma Jackson, Georgie Jennings, Lewis Johnson, Callum Love, Alex Mapp, Alex Own, Romy Phillips, Emily Rollins, Anna Schorfield, Oliver Tilt, Sophie Turbutt, Luke Watson, Millie Yarrington and Corale Zammit.

It was another successful year at King Charles I School with their best set of A-level results.

The overall pass rate increased to 99 per cent and all students achieved at least two level three qualifications and more than 80 per cent achieved at least three level three qualifications.

A spokesman from the school said they were delighted that the vast majority secured their place in employment or at university in a very competitive environment.

Top performers at the school, who achieved three or more A* to B grades included Andrew Bishton, Noah Evans, Katie Griffiths, James Rawlings, David Whitfield and Thomas Williams.

Headteacher, Stephen Brownlow, said: “I am extremely proud of the students and staff at King Charles I School who have worked so hard to achieve such excellent AS and A-level results.

"Examination success equates to life chances for our students who are able to pursue their chosen routes into higher education or employment.

"My thanks go to the students, their families and my staff; achievements like these are always a team effort. I wish everyone the best of luck for the future.”

The Bewdley School and Sixth Form pupils received a very pleasing set of A-level results, with a 100 per cent pass rate.

Ninety per cent of the pupils obtained three A-levels, with four out of five at grade C or above.

A spokesman from the school said: "The pupils have been accepted on a range of courses, including, bio veterinary science, history, archaeology, mechanical engineering, marketing, primary education, sport and exercise science, physics and motorsport engineering.

"The school is very proud of its pupils achievements."

Julie Reilly, headteacher, added: "We are all extremely proud of our students achievements, both staff and students have worked extremely hard to achieve these strong set of results."

Worcestershire County Council reported that initial data indicated that, out of the majority of the schools in the county, 85 per cent of Worcestershire students achieved three or more A* to E grades.

Councillor Marc Bayliss, cabinet member for children and families, said: "It is fantastic that Worcestershire's A-level students have once again excelled in their exams.

"It is a priority for the council to ensure that education in Worcestershire remains of the highest quality, and to see such levels of attainment improving every results day is very pleasing.

"We are delighted to see such wonderful achievement in Worcestershire, which reflects the fantastic effort put in by students, as well as the fine education and support of teachers and parents throughout the country."
