A PENSIONER was hit on the head and threatened with a weapon during an attempted robbery in Kidderminster.

The victim, a man in his 70s, suffered facial injuries during the incident in Kidderminster town centre.

He was walking in the underpass between Birmingham Road and Coventry Street at around 7pm on Sunday, November 20, when he was approached by a younger man who blocked his path.

The unknown man then hit the victim on the head from behind, before demanding money.

When the victim refused, a weapon - believed to be a knife - was used to threaten him.

A spokesman from West Mercia Police said: "Two teenagers are believed to have witnessed the incident and they shouted at the attacker who then fled along the Birmingham Road.

"Nothing was taken, but the man was left shaken up by the incident."

The attacker is described as white, around 5ft5in tall, of a thin build and around 19 to 20-years-old.

He was thought to be wearing a green and yellow-ish fleece-style hooded top, with the hood tied around his head, a bright yellow scarf - which covered the bottom half of his face - dark trousers and dirty white trainers.

West Mercia Police officers are keen for anyone who saw the assault, who witnessed anyone acting suspiciously or who was in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.
