WORK to repair a gas leak in Kidderminster town centre is expected to be completed by the end of the week, but engineers have warned it could take longer after another suspected leak was discovered.
National Grid engineers have been on site at the leak in Dixon Street - outside Shipley's Bingo and Social Club - since Monday (January 9) and hope to finish the repairs by the end of the week.
But, a further suspected leak on the pipe may delay the work.
A spokesman from National Grid said: "We are currently repairing a gas escape on a pipe in Dixon Street. We are hoping to complete the repairs by the end of the week.
"However, we are also investigating a further suspected gas leak on the pipe, at the junction of Dixon Street and New Road.
"It is not clear at this stage whether this is gas from the existing leak or if there is a further gas escape.
"We will keep people updated on this."
The spokesman added: "We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by our work but the safety of the public is our top priority."
While the work is on-going, there is a partial road closure in Dixon Street.
