SNOW could be heading to Worcestershire today, with drivers warned to brace themselves for a cold snap (latest updates here).
Forecasters yesterday raised the likelihood of the county seeing the white stuff as a harsh cold front storms in.
Worcestershire is likely to see either a wet afternoon with sleet and rain, or snow as temperatures drop to around 2C later on today.
It is unlikely to settle, however the Met Office has issued a snow alert for the county, saying snow showers are "possible" both today and tomorrow.
Worcestershire County Council's highways team said it would be out last night gritting as many roads as possible ahead of rush hour today.
Jon Fraser, head of highways, said: "Temperatures are dropping and we're sending the gritters out, there is a chance of snow in the county.
"Either ourselves and Warwickshire will get it or we won't, we will have to wait and see but we are taking all precautions."
A spokesman for the Met Office said: "Heavy rain will persist in some areas along with strong winds.
"We could also see sleet, rain and snow in some areas."
West Mercia Police issued a statement yesterday urging drivers to be be prepared if snow does arrive.
The force is warning of "heavy frost and icy patches on the roads", advising people to avoid any unnecessary journeys
