STAFF, pupils and parents are celebrating after a Wolverley school has been rated ‘outstanding’ in a recent inspection.

Wolverley CE Secondary School, in Blakeshall Lane, received the rating in their recent Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist School (SIAMS) inspection.

The inspection process included scrutiny of key documentation and data, as well as lesson observations, learning walks and interviews with staff, students, parents and governors.

The school was praised for the way every student is known, valued and enabled to learn, as well as that the leadership is exceptionally committed to meeting the needs of students and their families.

The report also stated that the Christian ethos is the lifeblood of the school and is a constant presence, and that the engagement with families is strong, as is attendance – particularly for vulnerable students, is improved.

However, the school has been told it can improve further by embedding more structure systems for all governors to ensure that collective worship continues to develop and be of high quality, and extend students’ role in planning and leading worship to make acts of worship even more engaging.

Bryn Thomas, headteacher, said: “We are delighted. Things are going really well here.

“It is a wonderful achievement and yet another indication of the incredible improvement journey the school has been on.

“I am delighted that our ‘Ambition Unlimited’ ethos was also a strong feature of the inspection.”

Their latest inspection rating, follows an overall ‘good’ rating from Ofsted in June 2016. Their Ofsted report was a far cry from two years earlier when the school was judged as ‘requires improvement’.
