BOSSES of a Indian restaurant in Kidderminster have said everything is now "100 per cent" after they were shut down when live cockroaches were discovered at the premises.

Paradise Balti House, in Lower Mill Street, reopened on October 24, last year after their Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order was lifted.

The restaurant was closed for nearly a month after it was discovered there were cockroaches where the food was being stored, prepared, cooked and served.

But Nazir Hussain, who runs the eatery with Tahir Aziz, said they have now been clean for three months and apologised for the inconvenience to their customers.

Mr Hussain said: “We have cleaned up massively and we have got everything 100 per cent.

“We have had no issues since we reopened in October and we have Environmental Health coming to visit us again shortly.

“If anyone has any issues they can visit our restaurant kitchen.

“We believe the problem was coming from products we had brought from abroad.”

He added: “We have been here in Kidderminster for 21 years and we have never had this issue before. Last time Environmental Health visited, we had a five star rating.

“This gave us a chance to sharpen up and we apologise to our regular customers for the inconvenience when we were closed.

“We have seen customers are starting to come back to us now. Everything has been clean for the last three months and we have done everything we can do to maintain the standards.”

Isabel Moore, environmental health officer from Worcestershire Regulatory Services, said: “The premises were closed on September 28, 2016, by environmental health officers from Worcestershire Regulatory Services (WRS) due to an active cockroach infestation.

“The premises were allowed to re-open for trade on October 24, when officers lifted the Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order.

“It followed a programme of measures to remove the infestation and associated health risk, this included refurbishment works.

“The proprietors appreciated the seriousness of the situation and remained fully co-operative throughout the incident.

“No further complaints have been received by WRS.”
