MORE than 100 good causes across Wyre Forest have been boosted by a council grant scheme during the last year.
Wyre Forest District Council’s Community Leadership Fund has seen around 114 individual grants of up to £1,000 handed out by councillors.
Charities, youth schemes, scouts and guide groups, sports clubs and a range of local organisations have all benefited by grants including the local Citizens Advice Bureau, Baxter Church Food Bank and the Wyre Forest Talking Newspaper.
The scheme – which has been running for nine years – gives all 33 District Councillors a budget of £1,000 to support local causes.
Councillor Juliet Smith, Cabinet Member for Health, Well-being and Housing said: “The Community Leadership Fund has been a great success over the last few years with hundreds of good causes receiving a welcome financial boost.
“The grants continue to make a difference to many organisations and initiatives throughout Wyre Forest.
“Projects or schemes that improve the quality of life for residents or enhance the local environment will usually be supported and I would encourage more local organisations or initiatives to take a look at the Council’s website for more information.”
