AROUND 20 firefighters were called to a factory in Kidderminster today (Sunday, February 19) when waste outside the premises caught fire.
The incident happened at the former Smethwick Drop Forge (SDF) Limited site in Stourport Road around 12 noon and saw crews from Kidderminster, Stourport, Bromsgrove and Droitwich attend the scene.
Thick black smoke billowed out from the area but firefighters were able to extinguish it quickly.
The fire was contained within the waste materials outside the premises and no property was damaged as a result.
SDF closed it's Kidderminster base last year just weeks before Christmas, resulting in the loss of 43 jobs.
